PHOENIX LIVE IN JAKARTA!

This news is not only cheering us: the fans, but also giving people the fact that Phoenix is still going to Jakarta, even after the bombing in J.W. Marriot and Ritz Carlton a few weeks ago. OH YES! THEY ARE NOT AFRAID! :D

The concert took place at bengkel night park, which was immediately loaded by teenagers here and there. My favorite local band NAIF was opening the stage stunningly, continued by the performance of the S.I.G.I.T and RNRM. They were all spectacular, though I think the S.I.G.I.T was dominating the stage waaay to long and RNRM’s sound check was a total waste of time. I stand a bit to the right-front of the stage with one tall boy blocking my view. But hey, we’re here to have fun! It’s more productive to struggle for a perfect spot than to grumble in a cheering crowd. Hehe… Just a theory. :)

Phoenix finally showed up at 10-ish pm and breaking the stage with Lisztomania. Everybody’s cheering, singing and dancing. I can’t complain because I’m one of them :). There are many complains coming from my own friends, telling how they were bothered with the audience who were dancing and singing out loud hysterically. Okay, maybe they’re a bit too hysterical. But I don’t see any reasons to complain at them. I mean, c’mon! This is a concert, for God sake, this is the moment you can actually see your idols on stage, performing their stuffs… just for YOU! This is the place where you can sing out loud and dance through the music you like. If you’re expecting a well mannered and stand-like-a-stone crowd, maybe you should just listen to MP3 at home. Don’t get me wrong, I spend money for this night and I don’t want it to be ruined by some nonsense skeptical person. I just want to enjoy what I think I can enjoy there.

Anyways, all songs from Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix were played except Fences... But they played my all time favorites like: If I Ever Feel Better, Funky Squaredance, Rally, Too Young and Run, Run, Run. And they’re also playing Playground Love by AIR, which was sung beautifully by Thomas Mars. 1901 was played at the very end of the show with a spectacular climax. Everybody’s cheering; I even felt the ground quaking.

All in all, Phoenix performance in Jakarta was beyond great! They’re a group of humble people who went down the stage in the middle of the show to greet their fans. And Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix is one of the greatest albums I’ve ever heard. I’m not really a music maniac, but yet I can easily enjoy their music and sing along quite fluently all through the album.

Salute phoenix!

'til we meet again ;)

a tribute to dzeek

A blessing may come in the most unexpected ways. I’ve said this before and now I said it again. I don’t care, but I do feel blessed. :)

As my previous post, I was invited to one of my good friend’s band performance: dzeek at alun-alun Grand Indonesia. So there I went with my husband and one of my best friends.

Anyway, I did have a little sneak preview of the band on youtube. Well the music is making friends with my ears quite easily and it took me just a while to decide that I’m a proud fan of dzeek ;). But still, watching live performance is another thing for me. So yeah, I was really enjoying the show. Imam greeted us between the songs. Some of his words that I captured was “this album is dedicated to both of you, the whole billion copies of it”. I was like “Yaaay Imam… Yaaay dzeek…” I didn’t even understand what the billion copies stand for. I’m pretty happy already, knowing that he personally invited us to the launching and that he will give us the album himself as a wedding gift for us.

So after the performance was over, he brought the CD and opened the cover for us. He took us to the page where his name is printed on it and pointed his finger to the words below it. There goes my name and my husband’s name, printed well between his wedding wishes for us.

All I could say was “WOOOOW”… “THANK YOOOOU”…. WOOOOW”… “THANK YOOOOU”… over and over again. I was really out of words, I didn’t even know what to say to him. This was really beyond my expectation. I feel really blessed. Thank you God for sending me good and loving friends into my life. I hope I can make them smile in the future, just the way they made a smile on my face today. I am truly blessed.

Thank you Imam. Thank you dzeek.

May you live happily ever after too ;) .

by the way,

i really like the last song that I suspect, titled as ‘final call’. But I just can’t help but wonder, why they put a pretty long pause from the previous song? I’ve almost thought that the song is not even there.

Hehe, just curious though ;)

the sweetest gift ever

I love gifts.

But sometimes, when you got the most unexpected gifts from the most surprising friend, you will have to leave your jaws opened for a moment. This afternoon, I received a message from a good old friend of mine. He said that he’s going to launch his band’s second album: dzeek, at alun-alun – Grand Indonesia, this June 21th.

For reasons I have failed to understand, he’s inviting me and my husband to the launching because he wants to give us the album himself, as a wedding gift for us. I’m so happy and honored; I have almost shed a tear while reading it. I mean, my wedding is like months ago, I didn’t even expect any presents anymore. And because we do like their music and we know that this launching is important to him, this will become the sweetest gift we’ve ever received.

Thank you dearest Imam,

This gift will be remembered forever :)
